Collaborative project – Week 1 – 15.01.2020

Advanced Experimental 3D Computer Animation Techniques is a unit which will span this term and the next, a total of 20 weeks.

In this unit there are 2 projects, one personal and one collaborative.

We were briefed on the collaborative unit the other day and I am working with two other animators (Marianna and Gui) and two girls on the VFX course (Daad and Petya). We will create a short chase and fight scene: two policemen chase a robot down a bridge. They stop in the middle of the bridge and they fight for a bit. The robot then kicks both of them off the bridge, has a little victory dance and then flies off. The bridge will have some burned down cars and smoke. Us three animators will animate a character each and the VFX artists will focus on the camera angles, camera movements and effects to include (such as the smoke). The aim of this project is to create a short story with the assets provided. The focus is how the story is told through the cinematography, not the actual quality of the animation.

For next Wednesday (22.01.2020) we need to have developed a pitch, a script and a storyboard to present to our tutors. For now, we have divided up the tasks each one of us has to do. I will be designing the storyboard.
